Another speed reading method
Years ago when I did my neuro-linguistic programming training I recall someone telling me that if you read and don't make the self-talk in your mind as you read you can speed up the reading much, much more.
You see when we read we don't just see the words, the vast majority of people actually use thier 'internal dialogue' as they read. What i mean by this is that they actually feel it necessary to say the words in thier own head as they read. But you don't need the 'self-talk' portion.
Try reading a few lines from a book and switch the sound off, reduce your internal dialogue as you read, pretty weird at first. however, by switching off the self-talk in no way reduces your comprehension of the material but it does speed up the reading as you've probably already found.
Hey, why make a task more difficult, you wouldn't do a household chore that doesn't need doing, why do it anywhere else?
You don't need the self-talk it's just because you've been doing it so long you beleive that you do. have a practice and see how it goes, it'll take a little while but the rewards of increased speed are there.
