Improving reading speed
1. Use a pen or a finger to trace under each line as you read as fast as you possibly can. Reading is a series of jumping snapshots and using the visual guide prevents regression.
2. Now begin a new line focusing on the third word in from the first word. And end each line focusing on the third word in from the last word. This make s use of peripheral vision that is otherwise wasted at the margins. For example, the highlighted words in the next sentence are your beginning and ending focal points so the entire sentence is s till 'read' but woth much less eye movement which automatically speeds things up.
"Once a long time ago someone decided to learn speed reading"
3. As you get used to this start to move in from the sides gradually
Once you are comfortable indenting both sides with a few words attempt to take only two snapshots per line as the first and last indented words
Practice reading too fast for comprehension but with good technique at a reasonable speed. This heightens perception and reset your speed limit, much like a car going at 50mph seems fast but then seems slow when you go from 70mph back down to 50mph.
And yes it does feel weird and strange when you start doing this but in just a short while it really does pick your reading speed up.
Good luck
